SSP Handwara chairs crime, security review meeting | KNO

Srinagar, Sep 08 (KNO): Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Handwara, Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdhary Monday chaired a detailed crime and security review meeting at the Conference Hall of District Police Office Handwara. The meeting was attended by Addl. SP Handwara, SDPOs, SHOs, DOs, and investigating officers of the Police District, where a comprehensive review of crime records, security preparedness, and law & order measures was conducted, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). SSP Handwara while reviewing the under-investigation cases made a key emphasis on certain aspects of investigation including action against the terror ecosystem. While reviewing UAPA cases, SSP emphasized a focused strategy to crack down on terrorist entities and their overground workers, with special attention on identifying and attaching properties under UAPA provisions. SSP Handwara also stressed on the speedy disposal of Inquests proceedings. Officers were directed to ensure time-bound and merit-based disposal of inquest proceedings and pending cases, with accountability fixed at every stage of investigation. Highlighting the drug menace & challenge posed by habitual offenders, SSP Handwara laid stress on continuing the relentless drive against narcotics, drug peddlers and habitual offenders, to safeguard the youth and society from the menace. The officer in the detailed review of all under-investigation cases emphasised on the quality of investigation which can fetch conviction of accused. The SSP issued clear instructions for quality investigation, timely filing of charge-sheets, and effective follow-up in courts. Special emphasis was placed on strengthening police-public relations, by ensuring people-friendly policing, grievance redressal, and community-centric initiatives. Moreover, SSP Handwara also made a threadbare assessment of the overall security scenario so as to devise preventive measures against upcoming challenges and to maintain peace, harmony, and stability in the district. Interacting with the officers, SSP Handwara highlighted the need for exhibiting Professionalism, integrity, and commitment in policing. Besides, he stressed on the need for strict adherence to law and accountability mechanisms at all levels and also enhanced coordination between different police units for better results—(KNO)
